Ever had a dream similar?

I think we've all had a similar dream like this one before.... It's another one that is slightly dark in nature.

~~~~~
Your mother rolls up a hill in your father's big blue truck. Your younger sibling who is just a baby, is buckled in the back seat in a car seat. Your mother stops the car and smiles at you before getting out of the car.
Your younger sibling giggles and laughs as you unbuckle your seat belt and shift to the driver seat so you can make the toddler smile. In no time at all you both are laughing hard and enjoying yourself. Trying to catch your breath you turn and slump into the driver's seat, rubbing your fingers against the black and white carpeting on the seats.
"Beep-beep!" Your younger sibling giggles out.
You grin and jerk the steering wheel a little, while making driving noises. You aren't worried about your mom catching you in the driver's seat, she's out talking to a friend, and she can talk for hours!
Suddenly, the whole truck jerks forward, making you bump your head against the steering wheel. You recoil, rubbing your forehead but strangely enough you don't feel any pain. Confused, you glance back down at the dark blue steering wheel. The object remains stationary, looking almost innocent as you replace your hands back on the wheel.
Only a few seconds after you do this, does the truck start rolling backwards. You panic, but somehow manage to grab the stick shifter and shove the vechile out of park and into drive.
You can hear your younger sibling screaming as you slam on the gas, despretaly trying to get the truck to stop moving backwards.... But it doesn't...
By now you are crying and you turn trying to see exactly what is behind you, your younger sibling still screaming in fear.
The only thing you see is a large brick wall. With dark, rust colored blocks, getting larger as you approach. Your breath seems to catch in your throat at the sudden realization as you stare silently in terror at what surely is your end...
....And you wake up....
~~~

I don't always have terrifying dreams but this was one of my more vivid nightmares.
So have any of you ever had a similar dream? Or maybe a falling dream?
Please let me know! And I appreciate your comments!
Next time I'll try to do a dream with a lighter note.

A Dream of Mine

This is a dream of mine, that made me wonder...

~

The sky is dark, thunder rolls across the clouds as the view point rises up to view what would have been a gigantic dry lake bed. In the center of this dry, desert-like environment is a tall structure. From your point-of-view it almost seems like an ice cube tray, standing up on end, but in reality it is a huge apartment complex, cut open like the diagrams in a story book so you can see all of the inside. Rain beats down on this large building and the dry lake, and you notice off handily that a pool of water is beginning to form around the bottom of the building.

Suddenly the earth quakes and you are rocketed forward towards the strange building, you wish to scream, wondering if you'll slam into the wall, but your voice is caught in your throat. When you finally stop you are inside, the building and the time must have changed because now the apartment you are in is almost completely submerged in water.

The whole place looks like a tornado came ripping by. Various material items are floating in the water and you can see a bookcase tipped on it's side in another part of the room. A small grey animal, an elephant, stuffed toy floats lazily by, and that's when you realize, to your horror that someone who lived here has died.

Someone very young...

With a sudden jerk you are pulled from that existence to a new place. However this time you can seem yourself. You are a small child of around five or six, with bright blue eyes and a happy jolly smile. You are skipping toward a large lake, the sun is bright and birds are chirping.

A large group of people are by the lake's edge and as you travel to some unseen place you can't help but over hear bits of their conversation.

"So young-"

"The whole place was just swallowed up by the storm..."

"It isn't fair! My daughter-"

"Heaven help them."

"There were no survivors."

Oblivious to any of the depressing talk you travel onward. Eventually you reach the waters edge and stop, leaning over to see your own reflection in the blue water. You stand there for a few moments, smiling at yourself before something catches your eye and you look up. You curiously wander into the water toward a floating log. You wade into the water about up to your knees before you can grab the object that caught your eye.

It smiles at you, with it's soggy, sad grin made of black thread. It's onyx button eyes gleaming sadly as you shake some of the water free. You smile at it, seemingly glad to have found such a treasure before you stop abruptly and turn your head.

Nodding affirmatively you turn back toward home, the little elephant doll tucked safely under one arm.

As you're skipping, your foot catches on an unseen object and you are launched forward. Time seems to slow down as you slowly watch yourself fall, the dolls little arm clutched tightly in your hand. You close your eyes tightly to brace for impact-

And you wake up...

I had this dream when I was ten. I was very disturbed by it, simply because there was no meaning behind it.
I was also ten and dreaming of people dying... Creepy...

I really wasn't sure what it meant but it was very vivid, and very real feeling.

This was probably the dream that got me started on wondering on dream interpretation.
I bet it makes you wonder as well... Does it?

What is a Dream?

Dream - noun - 1. a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.

But what really is a dream?

There are several different explanations for the existence of the night time shows our brains tune into at night. Many scientist have spent their whole careers researching dreams, the neural activity that happens, and the physical and mental effects dreams have on our bodies. With their know how, surely they know exactly what a dream is, and why we had them.

(But can they explain it in an easy way for us "average joes" to understand? No...)

So what messages to dreams send us? Are there even messages in dreams? Truthfully, I don't think there is anyway to really tell.

And why should you even care?

That last question I can't answer for you, but maybe you're interested in what kinds of dreams can make people want to have them interpreted.

Are you?

There hasn't been a dream that I can remember having that has ever been "normal". Let me tell you a few, then maybe you can tell me why you think I'd want to know what they mean.
